Choosing Your Ideal Hiking Trail

You already know you want to plan your own life; you get to research different hiking trails around the world. You get research where place you  go and you need to go. First of all, you have to take care of the environment and weather of the place where you are going. You have to know about the road there, if you don’t know the road, you have to take the help of a guide. If there is a group, then the opinion of each member of the group should be taken. You have to set your location, and you have to think about the budget.

To help narrow things down, it’s important to develop a set of criteria about what you feel comfortable doing and what your perceived limitations and priorities are.

  1. Strategic Planning: Just like a program requires clear goals, so does a trip. You start by defining the purpose of the journey, key destinations (milestones), and the resources (budget, time) needed to get there.
  2. Flexibility and Adaptation: Plans can change. Whether it’s a flight delay (ask me about running frantically through the Lima airport to make a connecting flight!) or a market shift, you must be prepared to pivot. In a program, this means adapting strategies and timelines when new challenges arise.
  3. Collaboration: Traveling with a group or working on a cross-functional team requires coordination. Aligning everyone’s expectations and ensuring smooth communication are critical for achieving the desired outcome. Luckily, my three travel companions were very easygoing with the plan!
  • How many miles per day do you feel capable of hiking?
  • At what elevation might you experience altitude sickness?
  • Is it important for you to have access to amenities like bathrooms, showers, and wifi, or are you looking for a wilderness route?
  • Do you crave solitude, or would you prefer if other hikers were around?
  • Do you want to camp or stay indoors at hotels or mountain huts? How much weight do you want to carry on your back?
